Projects that conform Brunca Sustainable Landscape

1. GLFx Brunca

Funder: Global Landscapes Forum through the GLFx Program.

Developing knowledge-building spaces and capacity strengthening with a focus on human rights, gender, and interculturality, where individuals from indigenous communities in southeastern Costa Rica gather to exchange, through participatory workshops, about ancestral environmental practices inherent to their cultures. This initiative promotes forest landscape restoration and human-ecosystem coexistence.

2. Strengthening and scaling of the 'Forest to be Born Water - Crän Süj Drí' project in the Brunca Region, Costa Rica.

Promote adaptation actions in communities of the Brunca Region, located along the Grande de Térraba River, the La Amistad Pacífico Conservation Area, the Térraba Sierpe National Wetland, and archaeological sites of importance. These efforts aim to enhance their well-being and foster coexistence with the surrounding ecosystems. 

3. Ecosystem restoration and socio-economic strengthening of indigenous, peasant, and coastal communities in the Southern Pacific region of Costa Rica.

Funder: Government of France through the PISCCA Fund (Innovative Projects by Civil Society and Coalitions of Actors)

Promote climate change adaptation actions in communities of the Brunca Region of Costa Rica, aiming to strengthen biological connectivity between the La Amistad Pacífico Conservation Area and the Térraba Sierpe National Wetland. This initiative seeks to enhance the well-being and sustainable development of people coexisting with these ecosystems. 

4. Strengthening and scaling of the 'Forest to be Born Water - Crän Süj Drí' project in the Brunca Region, Costa Rica.

Funder: EU DeSIRA Project The Five Great Forests of Mesoamerica through the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS).
