BOSQUE PARA NACER AGUA

BOSQUE PARA NACER AGUA - Cránjsúj Díˇ

Developed in the Boruca community of the Bruncajc indigenous people, in Buenos Aires, Puntarenas, Costa Rica, our project "Bosque para Nacer Agua" seeks to protect rivers and springs through the rehabilitation of deforested and degraded sites, while increasing ecosystem services for the benefit of the community; in addition to recovering food sovereignty through the production of food for self-consumption.

Since 2018, our plan to promote conservation tourism runs using volunteering, ecological rehabilitation, cultural-community wealth and alliances to attract funds. In February 2020, our first community greenhouse was built with the help of our first international volunteers; its purpose is to produce plants for self-consumption and native trees for ecological rehabilitation.

Nowadays, thanks to the 2020 CEMEX-TEC Award, we will be able to build a seed sanctuary, a space that will function for the exchange and integration of knowledge. In addition, it will allow the conservation and availability of local seeds for conservation, culture, self-consumption and tourism as a strategy for covering local needs and emergencies.
